Enzymatic Complex Summary

H/ACA snoRNP from Saccharomyces cerevisiae

Structure of H/ACA snoRNP (Saccharomyces cerevisiae):

Protein components:
H/ACA ribonucleoprotein complex subunit 4
H/ACA ribonucleoprotein complex subunit 1
H/ACA ribonucleoprotein complex subunit 3
H/ACA ribonucleoprotein complex subunit 2

RNA components:

H/ACA box snoRNA

The H/ACA snoRNP guide pseudouridylation -In yeast, most, if not all, of the 45 C residues are present within the mature rRNA sequences. The site-specific pseudouridylation of rRNA requires H/ACAbox snoRNPs, in which the H/ACA-box snoRNAs function as guides that specify the uridines to be isomerized in the prerRNA. Site selection is mediated by short base pairings between the snoRNA and the pre-rRNA, and pseudouridylation occurs at a fixed distance of about 14 nucleotides from the conserved snoRNA sequence elements (box H and/or ACA triplet)

The H/ACA snoRNP is proposed to adopt a bipartite structure with a copy of the core H/ACA proteins assembled at each hairpin motif of the snoRNA.
