FUNCTION:
 
Belongs to the CCR4-NOT complex that functions as general transcription regulation complex. Acts as a transcriptional repressor. Represses the ligand-dependent transcriptional activation by nuclear receptors.
 
CELLULAR LOCALIZATION:
 
Cytoplasm › P-body (By similarity.) Note: NANOS2 promotes its localization to P-body (By similarity.)
 
TISSUE SPECIFICITY:
 
Strongly expressed in brain, heart, thymus, spleen, kidney, liver, placenta and lung. Weakly expressed in skeletal muscle and colon.
