FUNCTION:
 
Binds specifically to the 3'-terminal U-tract of U6 snRNA. May be involved in pre-mRNA splicing.
 
SUBUNIT STRUCTURE:
 
Identified in the spliceosome C complex. LSm subunits form a heteromer with a doughnut shape.
 
CELLULAR LOCALIZATION:
 
Nucleus (Potential.)
 
POST-TRANSLATIONAL MODIFICATION:
 
Phosphorylated upon DNA damage, probably by ATM or ATR.
